KENOSHA, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS)— The City of Kenosha has been in the process of healing for just over a week now. During that time, there has been a noticeable change in the community.
After a week of devastation, destruction and tragedy, the Kenosha community is beginning to look quite different. Businesses are beginning to open back up, like Lyna Postuchow’s business: Summers Garden Florist and Gifts. The owners say orders are coming back in, while healing continues.
“It’s quiet right now and we are praying it stays that way but we are just not sure,” Postuchow says.

However, she says she is remaining positive, as signs of life flow back in through town.
“This morning it was so exciting because people were sitting outside having coffee from the coffee shop and I noticed it. I was like, 'Oh that's different. I haven’t heard that in a while.' The town sounds different,” Postuchow says.
Down the street from her business, you can hear the sounds of power tools. Others in the community are hard at work creating makeshift doors so they are able to reopen their business.
“It’s quiet but it's peaceful. It’s happy down here there are a lot of people excited to go into the businesses that are starting to open back up. It’s not scary down here,” Downtown Kenosha Inc. member, Alex Kudrna says.
As you walk throughout the town, it’s hard to miss the beautiful artwork plastered all over the walls. There are words and messages Darius Young, a father of two and Kenosha resident, says he wanted to bring his family to see.

“It seems like everybody has calmed down and taken a step back and looked at the bigger picture and I feel like the artwork kind of presents what the town is trying to do by bringing everyone together,” Young says.
It’s a community seeing change both inside and out, with hopes of growth and understanding.
