DARIEN, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- As Vice President Mike Pence addresses the nation at the RNC Wednesday, just one week prior, he held a campaign rally in the small Southern Wisconsin community of Darien, Wis.
"Look, we were excited and proud to be able to hold something like this," TankCraft CEO Bob Fettig says about the historic visit to his company's headquarters.
"It was actually a surprise. We received a call from someone in the administration, or the campaign, i guess, and they asked if we would be willing to hold an event here," Fettig says.
But this wasn't an event he needed to think long or hard about as a Trump/Pence supporter.
"It all happened within a relatively short period of time a matter of days," he says.
In fact, just two days time to prepare for the Pence production crew. Along the way, his teams moved fuel and refrigeration tanks into camera ready position. He says it was intense but interesting seeing the behind the scenes work done for the media event.
"They [Pence production crew] rearranged some of the product that was on display 25 times before they were satisfied."
Fettig believes the current administration can help his internationally known fuel and refrigeration tank company push past the virus — after he saw sales slump inside his Darien warehouse this year.
"We are operating at the present time at about 50% of where we were in 2019," Fettig says.
He believes the current administration's job and economic development plan is the right one to grow his skilled workforce, and was just grateful to be a part of the unforgettable event.
"Well, we hope that it contributes to their success and we wish them the best," Fettig says. "Happy to have the attention and hopefully can do some good," he adds.
Believe it or not, Fettig says he was so busy, he forgot to take any pictures with Vice President Pence during his hour long visit. Fettig says this is probably the third time meeting the VP in person.
