EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) — The Eau Claire County Fair will not be open to the public this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Every year, exhibitors and families are able to showcase projects they had worked on throughout the year. This year, the showcase will be limited to exhibitors and family members in the same households.
Organizers said exhibitors and families will be required to leave the grounds when done exhibiting/showing to ensure numbers on the grounds are kept within the mandated limits.
The Eau Claire City County Health Department’s guidelines have limited the fair, which has been in operation since 1924. The restrictions to numbers on the grounds have been determined by the health department.
For exhibitors that are uncomfortable with going forward during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Eau Claire Fair Committee is granting a one-year exception for the 2021 showcase.
Anyone entering the grounds will be required to complete and sign a waiver. Everyone over the age of two that enters the fairgrounds will be required to wear face coverings.
"As we continue to move forward please know that we want all our families, exhibitors, staff, and judges to be safe. We will understand tough decisions will need to be made this year. We welcome your comments and suggestions," organizers said in a statement.
This year’s fair will be held from July 27-August 2 at the Eau Claire County Exposition Center.
