WISCONSIN (SPECTRUM NEWS)— Kids across the US are turning to online learning to finish off the rest of their school year.
Learning from home is a big adjustment for many kids. It’s a new way to gather and retain knowledge that isn’t always easy.
“We created this portal to provide some free collections that are both online and both offline,” Common Sense Education VP of Education Outreach, Merve Lapus said.
Common Sense Media recently launched Wide Open School, its a program that caters to K-12 kids, their parents, and educators.
“Parents can just come right in and find the grade level of the kids that they have in their household and find specific topics that meet their age range because we do want to account that not all learning is the same,” Lapus said.
The program caters to specific age groups to best support each child’s style of learning.
It’s a tool that also has specific courses for kids living with special needs. Lapus says he hopes this program will benefit the way kids learn and get them through this time.
“We have this great daily schedule that parents and even educators can go to every day and say here are some things you can do during the morning, and the afternoon and even in the evening,” Lapus said.
It helps by breaking down a schedule that in turn will hopefully help break down the barriers that come with transitioning to online only learning.
The website is free to students and educators across the US. For more information, click HERE.
