WISCONSIN (SPECTRUM NEWS)--While at home in these trying times, domestic violence shelters and abuse hotlines already experiencing or expecting a surge in need.  

The Wisconsin Rapids Family Center’s Sue Sippel says the COVID-19 outbreak will create more than just cabin fever. She says it is why those at-risk populations need to establish a safe room in the house, away from t​he kitchen and knives, and try this other simple tip to help save a life. 

"You know, talking to a trusted neighbor and saying, 'Hey, if you see my porchlight on in the middle of the day, something is going on, call the police, I'm not safe,'" Sippel said.
