JOHNSON CREEK, WI (SPECTRUM NEWS)- It may be good snowmobiling weather in northern Wisconsin, but in the southern part of the state it is a very different story. Almost all trails in the region are closed due to poor conditions.
In Jefferson County the trails have been able to open up in short spurts this season, but have often had to close quickly due to rapid melting and a small snow pack.
Larry Chwala with the Jefferson County Snowmobile Alliance helps decide when to open the trails. He says it has been tough having to keep them closed when riders are eager to get out.
“Frustrating! I have said in the past it’s easier to make a decision with two inches of snow than it is five and six inches.” Says Chwala
