JANESVILLE, Wis (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- An historic Rock County site proud to win a nationwide American Express and National Geographic grant competition —to repair and revitalize an aging structure.
Over a period of five weeks, The Janesville Woman’s Club Building received the highest number of votes, 125,000. The number won the Wisconsin venue $80,000.
"I truly believe Janesville was underestimated, we went up against some pretty heavy hitters nation wide all worthy causes all worthy spaces, but Janesville rallied," Revive 108 South Jackson President Ann Roe said.
Besides treating water damage in the art gallery, and paying for a new HVAC system, the grant money will pay to repair several cracks in the foundation as well as the Federalist style balcony at the front of the building.
