WISCONSIN (SPECTRUM NEWS) – High water levels on the Great Lakes and Bay of Green Bay has led to flooding and shoreline erosion in Oconto County.
Heavy rain falls prompted local, state, and federal officials to call a meeting regarding flood concerns. Oconto’s Emergency Management says they want to keep Bay Shore residents prepared for the worst when flooding occurs.
“Our main concern is life safety. We may not be able to control the water levels but we can control how we move people around or inform people of the problem that’s coming before it hits so we can react to the situation at hand,” said Tim Magnin, Oconto County emergency management.
The meeting is set for November 6, at the Oconto High School. The Army Corp of Engineers will give their predictions on water levels through 2020. Residents will be able to ask questions regarding flooding and shoreline erosion.
“Some might be dealing directly with their town official and the problem will be solved or it might be that they’ve got to go further. We just want to open up those avenues for them so they can get the information they need,” Magnin said.
