MILWAUKEE, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) - Two Milwaukee area parents are staying true to their word with the surprise of a lifetime. Back on March 30th sisters Lola and Libby Labodda held up a sign at Miller Park that said “Yelich, hit a homer and my dad buys me a puppy.” Christian Yelich hit that home run, and Monday they got their puppy.

During batting practice Christian Yelich surprised the girls by hand delivering the puppy himself. The mini goldendoodle will be named Yeli. The family says the whole experience has been incredible.

“It is a moment we never thought would happen from an eight dollar sign. It is just a moment we haven’t taken in yet, it is just a great, great thing for the Brewers to allow this to happen and for Christian Yelich to come out and present this puppy to us is amazing.” Says Mike Labodda.

In addition to being a wonderful companion, the new pup will also have an important job. Daughter Lola has type one diabetes and they plan to have the dog train to help her in managing her condition.
