Kyle Cranmer is a professor of physics and the director of the Data Science Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Cranmer said the emergence of Chat GPT has certainly sparked a major increase in artificial intelligence.

He said right now, AI is being used for everything, from image generation to streamlining businesses.

As an example, Cranmer used an AI generator to produce pictures of Wisconsin’s badger logo.

He said there are two primary types of AI: predictive and generative.

Cranmer said one of the largest questions policy makers face when they consider regulating AI is how to prevent bad actors from using AI to spread misinformation by faking or impersonating credible sources.
