State Rep. Donna Rozar (R-Marshfield) has authored a bill that would add exemptions to the state’s abortion law.
Rozar said she believes the majority of the public is in favor of abortions in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the baby’s mother. Rozar said her bill would clarify that situations like ectopic pregnancies or miscarriages are not abortion.
Gov. Tony Evers has said he will veto any bill adding exemptions to the abortion law because he only supports a full repeal of it.
But Rozar said she believes Republican leadership should still bring the bill up for a vote in both chambers. She said Republicans should show voters they are open to reasonable compromises on abortion.
