Tourism in the Wisconsin Dells hit a record high in 2021, according to Romy Snyder, the President/CEO of the Wisconsin Dells Visitor and Convention Bureau.
Snyder said 2022 has so far been a very strong year.
She said, depending on how many visitors arrive in the busy months of July and August, the Wisconsin Dells could end up topping last year's impressive tourism totals.
Snyder said the current high gas prices shouldn't impact tourism to the area too much.
She said, historically, rising gas prices haven't impacted tourism in the Wisconsin Dells.
Snyder noted the Dells are "roughly a tank away" for tourists from nearby metro areas like Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis. She said that makes the area a relatively affordable trip for visitors even at a time when gas prices are elevated.
