CLEVELAND, Wis. — A Lakeshore Technical College instructor has received a national award for her work in and outside the classroom.

The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) recognized math instructor Kelly Konrath for its 2024 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty award. She’s the sixth Lakeshore Technical College instructor in seven years to receive the distinction.

The award, named after AACC President and CEO Dale P. Parnell, was established to recognized recognize faculty at universities who make a difference through their work.

Konrath joined Lakeshore faculty in 2015. She holds a master’s degree in mathematics education from DePaul University and has served several college communities who focus on making education accessible. Konrath is the only Wisconsin instructor to be recognized by the national organization this year.

Dr. Paul Carlsen, president of Lakeshore Technical College, praised Konrath for her exceptional commitment beyond the classroom.

“Kelly has the unique ability to guide current and future students to become engaged in mathematical concepts. She voluntarily holds family math game nights at a local library, where she also leads an after-school math club for K-2nd grade children. Kelly is truly a forward-thinker,” said Carlsen in a press release.

Konrath will be recognized on April 9 in Louisville, Kentucky.
