1. One dead, 21 injured in shooting after KC Super Bowl parade

One person died and 21 people were injured, including children, in a shooting following the Super Bowl parade Wednesday in Kansas City honoring the Chiefs, according to Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves. 

2. Wisconsin Assembly passes a $2 billion tax cut package. But will Evers sign it?

Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu supports the $2 billion plan, but it's unclear where Democratic Gov. Tony Evers stands on it. Evers used his partial veto powers in July to reduce a $3.5 billion income tax cut that Republicans inserted into the state budget to just $175 million, which translated to a $3 per month reduction for the average taxpayer. And he vetoed a GOP tax cut plan in November that mirrored the one Republicans are advancing now.

3. DPW data: Milwaukee's traffic-calming efforts are effective

City leaders in Milwaukee unveiled 45 new traffic-calming projects for 2024, many of which are already being implemented across the city. DPW said it has already collected data two of those projects: East Oklahoma Avenue in Bay View and West Lapham Boulevard on Milwaukee’s South Side. DPW's data showed so far, they’ve been effective.

4. First lady Jill Biden to visit Green Bay on Friday

She’ll arrive Friday afternoon to discuss how certain Biden administration policies are helping connect high school and college students with careers.

5. Chocolates, flowers and procrastination. For many Americans, Valentine's Day is a last-minute affair

In each of the past two years, nearly half of U.S. spending on Valentine’s Day flowers, candy and cards occurred between Feb. 11 and Feb. 14, according to Numerator, a market research company. But sales do not peak until Valentine’s Day itself.

Bjorn Rogness always loved to cook, but never imagined he’d become a renowned chocolatier in Milwaukee.

The Door County native moved to the city to attend college at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

“The entire thing happened by accident,” Rogness said. “My business partner David actually found an ad on Craigslist.”
