In the city of Milwaukee thousands turned out to cast their vote, in person, on April 7 at only 5 polling locations.
Now, according to city health officials, some early data suggests new cases of COVID-19 are related to election day.
In a press conference Monday, Milwaukee's Health Commissioner said there are positive cases that appear to trace back to polling sites. "We've identified seven individuals that contracted, at least it appears, COVID-19 through election related activities. Whether they had showed up to vote at one of the polling sites in the city of Milwaukee or they worked one of the polling sites," Commissioner Jeanette Kowalik reported.
Kowalik pointed out they are still investigating and said they only have 30% of the data when it comes to new COVID-19 cases associated with election day. As more information becomes available they will be able to connect the dots with contact tracing and see how many other people might be affected.
