After a quiet stretch of weather across Wisconsin, the threat of storms returns this week.

What You Need To Know

  • Strong to severe storms for some on Tuesday

  • Widespread showers & storms likely Wednesday
  • Heat & humidity return later this week

Expect another sunny and comfortable day on Monday before a series of fronts push into Wisconsin Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing a return of showers and storms to the state.

First, a weakening complex of storms will move into parts of western and northwestern Wisconsin early Tuesday morning. This will be followed by a warm front that will turn our wind out of the south and bump temperatures well into the 80s. With that will come the threat of a few thunderstorms rolling into western Wisconsin from southeastern Minnesota again Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The main threat with these storms will be damaging wind gusts, but heavy rain and frequent lightning will also be possible. The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center has placed much of western Wisconsin under a "Slight Risk" for severe storms, considered a 2 out of 5 on a scale of severe weather potential for Tuesday.

More widespread showers and storms will move across Wisconsin on Wednesday, eventually wrapping up late in the day as a cold front clears the state to the east.

Behind the cold front, high pressure will build in briefly for Thursday, allowing for plenty of sunshine. Heat and humdity will return on Friday and linger through the weekend with high temperatures near 90 degrees and heat index values in the low to mid 90s.
