MADISON, Wis. — Environmental groups across the Badger State have teamed up with local and state leaders to push for more action from the White House on climate change.

The national 'Solutions for Pollution' campaign is about pushing the Biden administration to go big and bold and put roughly 20 federal protections in place to cut pollution in half by 2030.

From the steps of the state Capitol Tuesday, State Sen. Kelda Roys (D-Madison) made a plea to the president and called on him to use his powers to regulate dangerous pollutants.

“Even though the Inflation Reduction Act is the greatest climate change legislation that we have seen in this country, it is still not enough,” State Sen. Roys said. “The Biden administration has the power to increase environmental regulations, to help address climate change, and make sure that all of us get to breathe clean air, enjoy clean water, and have a safe, healthy and livable planet.”

Wisconsin's coalition behind the push is part of more than 200 advocacy groups from across the country working toward reducing emissions in their own way.

For Madison's mayor, the search for solutions is far from over.

“The Biden administration has made incredible strides on the issue of climate,” Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway said. “There is more work to do. The City of Madison stands ready to do that work with the state government, and with the federal government.”
