MADISON, Wis. — If these cold dreary days leave you feeling a little low, a Madison chef hopes you’ll consider spicing up your February with something he created to offer your tastebuds an international passport.

Lombardino’s head chef Patrick O'Halloran says last March his restaurant shut down for some time.

"I'm used to working so much and connecting with people through the food," O'Halloran said.

The restaurant has since reopened in a limited capacity — but left him longing at home for something he loved to do pre-pandemic.

"Really missing travel, so that led us to start blending places and making food that's inspired by our travel," O'Halloran said.

Last April, he started a cooking YouTube channel and began creating what's turned into Delicouser, a company that’s so far making about a dozen spice concoctions. Some feature 20-25 ingredients, all blended to help you find your inner top-chef, with easy to follow recipes and pro-tips.

"Really easy for you on your end to whip something up quickly and know that when you open this jar, you're going to take your food to the next level," O'Halloran said.

What's more is that you won't be worried about finding your spices in the rack or drawer. Future daughter-in-law Anne Minssen says creative labeling has solved that problem.

"So we wanted something on the top that as you're pulling your drawer out and you can see, you’re not like rummaging through or flipping jars over to find them," she said. "But then we also recognize that some folks have drawers where they're lying directly in. So we also wanted the side to be visually appealing.”

You can meet Patrick and the team Saturday during a special Valentine's Pop-Up Party from noon-5 p.m. Feb. 6 at Bunky’s Catering at 2425 Atwood Ave.
