Milwaukee (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- The Honor Flight Network is asking for the public's help to uplift and encourage our nation's veterans during the pandemic.

The organization halted its flights in June for the health and safety of the veterans who participate. The organization does not know when flights to Washington, D.C. will resume. In the meantime, The Honor Flight Network has launched "Operation Reassurance" while the Honor Flight trips are on hold. The mission is to collect as many video messages as possible to send to Honor Flight hubs nationwide to share with veterans. Organizers say they want to the veterans to know that their country has not forgotten them and their service.

The messages should be words of encouragement, gratitude for service and include the phrase "Welcome Home" and should be 20 tro 45 seconds long. The Honor Flight will edit the videos together into a 15 minute long tribute for WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans. Anyone can submit a video. The deadline to do so is October 1, 2020. The Honor Flight requests that videos not contain any remarks that could be considered politically partisan in nature.
