RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- Racine County is taking a new approach when it comes to convincing young professionals to move from Illinois to work in the area.
The Racine County Economic Development Corporation is launching a new initiative called Explore and Take Root.
Starting this summer they plan to host opportunities for people working in healthcare and STEM fields to travel from Illinois to spend a weekend in the Racine area. Staff with RCEDC say companies such as SC Johnson and InSinkErator have signed on to offer tours of their offices and speak with potential employees. The weekend is also expected to include a chance for people to learn about what life is like in the Racine area.
“It might not be an area they have ever visited other than to drive through. We really have a beautiful lakefront, a lot of diverse offerings as far as locations,” says Kate Walker with RCEDC, “I think they will see Racine County from a different perspective and that is why it is really important to get them here as a visitor so they can come here and experience all that we have to offer.”
People interested in taking part in the trips will have to apply with the RCEDC.
They also plan to hold a similar event targeted towards college interns coming to Racine County to work for the summer.
