WISCONSIN (SPECTRUM NEWS)— Small businesses are struggling across the US during this time, including those across the state of Wisconsin.

However, one glimmer of hope is through the paycheck protection program. Times are tough for a lot of people and small businesses. Small businesses help drive the country, but being shut down due to the coronavirus isn’t easy.

“We are just seeing small businesses struggle with what next steps are.  A lot of uncertainty for when they are going to be able to reopen their doors. so a lot of their concerns are around money right now,” Business.org communication specialist, Madison Haggin said.

Business.org is a team that helps small businesses grow. During this time they are working to support small businesses to stay above water and navigate this unprecedented time. One tip is how to navigate PPP.

“It would allow small businesses to pay those essential needs they have upfront right now for the next couple of months while we figure out what the next steps are,” Haggin said.

Across Wisconsin, these PPP loans are being distributed. Wisconsin is on the higher end of states in the US that is benefitting from these loans.

“Wisconsin is actually coming in the top ten number of states that were funded but we have found that that only equates to about 9.6 percent of small businesses across the state have received funding,” Haggin said.

So only around 43,000 small businesses have received funding so far. But business.org says another round of funding is coming so make sure to apply if you haven’t already.
