OSHKOSH, Wis. — The excitement of aviation is once again in the air as EAA AirVenture has returned to Oshkosh. After being canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, aviation enthusiasts are able to enjoy everything on display for the week-long show.
From traditional exhibitions to new highlights, there is plenty on display in 2021.
For those responsible for organizing the show, having aviation enthusiasts back means a lot.
“It is an absolute joy to be back here,” said EAA Spokesman Dick Knapinski. “After two years, seeing the aviation family reunion come back together, seeing old friends you had not seen in two years and picking up that conversation and seeing what is new. New airplanes, old airplanes, seeing people come back to Oshkosh for AirVenture is wonderful to behold.”
This year, the show will feature a variety of different focuses. One of those will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. AirVenture will salute World War II veterans as well as the aircraft from the era. 2020 marked the 75th anniversary however they were not able to commemorate the occasion last year, due to the show cancelation. For younger aviation enthusiasts like Caleb White, who was taking pictures in the warbirds area, it is important to honor those who served.
“Aviation and military is a huge part of history in aviation, so I think that is really cool for people to see,” said White.
EAA AirVenture will run through Sunday, August 1.
