OHIO — Akron Mayor Shammas Malik said the city will extend its warming center through Friday, Feb. 21.
Previously, the city had announced the Summit Lake Community Center would return to normal business hours by Wednesday, Feb. 19. With this extension, the center will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the rest of the week. Akron's other community centers will be open for normal business hours.
Akron's emergency overnight shelter at 111 East Voris St. will also have an extension, running through Friday, Feb. 21. Its hours are 7 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Cleveland previously announced that its warming centers would be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Thursday, Feb. 20.

The city will provide transportation to a nearby men's or women's shelter that provides overnight shelter for those who need it.
Toledo opened its overnight shelters on Monday evening at 8 p.m. Those who need transportation can call 2-1-1 for assistance. For information on the shelters, click here.

The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department also has warming centers at five community centers that are open until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
These centers include:

- Dodge Community Center, 667 Sullivant Ave., 43215
- Linden Community Center, 1350 Briarwood Ave., 43211
- Marion Franklin Community Center, 2801 Lockbourne Rd., 43207
- Thompson Community Center, 1189 Dennison Ave., 43201
