CLEVELAND — When the coronavirus pandemic hit Ohio, Randy Golenberg decided he needed a constant.
“You know, I wasn’t thinking about what’s gonna happen tomorrow. How’s business going to be? How’s my family going to be? Am I going to be healthy? It was a time where I could go out and the next thing I know, I’m done and I can just be at peace," said Golenberg.
A self-described creature of habit, Golenberg runs four miles every single morning.
“I wake up and part of my routine is you find time to eat, you find time to sleep, you find time to do something for yourself and good for your health. So workout.”
Four miles for 365 days is 1,460 miles total. That’s the distance from Downtown Cleveland all the way to San Antonio, Texas.
But the total mileage doesn't really matter to Golenberg.
"This is a good way to just let go. (Running) helps with depression and it’s just a place to release and find a place where I could do something not only for me, but for others when I'm around them, because it will make me feel better."
He said it's about taking the time to do something for himself.
“(It) doesn’t really matter what kind of body type or person you are; it's just waking up and doing something."
