What You Need To Know

  •  The National Christmas Tree Association said the supply of farm-grown trees will remain tight again for the 2022 Christmas season

  •  They encourage people to shop early and be flexible

  • Those with Kinman Farm Market in Burlington said they've noticed prices on trees increase over time

  • They also said weather can impact the trees they get in for a season

“You know people like to get their trees up after Thanksgiving. So yeah, this weekend and next weekend are really busy for us,” said Manager Amanda Rodriguez.

The National Christmas Tree Association said supply of farm-grown trees will remain tight for the 2022 Christmas season. Rodriguez said it can be hard to find trees.

“Just trying to find trees in general, it was hard to find them. Just with farmers and raising trees, it’s hard due to weather,” she said.

Kinman Farm Market has Fraser trees available to people this year. She said prices have gone up on trees, a trend she’s noticed over time.

“This tree probably used to be like $75 and it’s up to about $130, so they’ve gone up tremendously in the last four years, probably,” she said.

The NCTA suggests people shop early and be flexible this holiday season. Rodriguez said they’ve battled challenges this year that many other local businesses have, but she knows they provide more of a festive environment people may not find in a big chain store. She said they have handmade wreaths and other items for sale, and you may even find Santa and the Grinch hanging out on their property.

“You know what, it’s a family tradition to come get your live tree and the farm and the atmosphere and it’s the holidays,” Rodriguez said.

Kinman Farm Market expects to see crowds die down over time after next weekend. The business is located at 4175 Burlington Pike in Burlington, for those looking for some holiday cheer and a Christmas tree.
