There's always plenty to do in Ohio over the weekend, but Spectrum News 1 gathered some of the highlights around each major metropolitan area across the state.
Here's some of this weekend's events:
Cleveland
- When and where: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 8 and 9 at various locations (see website for details)
- Info: Ever wondered how maple syrup is made? This tour features sugarhouses around Northeast Ohio those interested can visit
- When and where: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 8 at the Cleveland Museum of Art's Community Arts Center at the Pivot Center, located at 2937 West 25th St. in Cleveland
- Cost: $10
- Info: This is a chance for kids to get a hands-on experience via workshps and more. The website says cosplay is encouraged
Columbus
- When and where: Noon to 4 p.m. March 8 and 9 at Hocking Hills State Park
- Cost: Free
- Info: See how sap is turned into maple syrup as well as its history in Ohio. You'll also be able to buy syrup at the event
- When and where: 8 to 11 p.m. March 8 at the Center of Science and Industry, located at 333 W Broad St. in Columbus
- Cost: General admission is $55, early admission $70
- Info: Check out more than 50 breweries and 150 different beers at this event. Early admission gets you in at 7 p.m.
Cincinnati
- When and where: 5 p.m. on March 8 at the Ault Park Pavillion, located at 5090 Observatory Circle in Cincinnati
- Cost: Free
- Info: Astronomer Dean Regas will be present along with others to show their telescopes, answer questions and provide some education on how to use equipment
Cincinnati International Wine Festival
- When and where: March 6-8 at the Freestore Foodbank Distribution Center on Rosenthal Way in Cincinnati
- Info: This event has been ongoing since back in 1991. It allows attendees to enjoy wine while also helping local nonprofits. More than $7 million has been given to local groups since it started
Dayton
58th Annual Maple Syrup Festival
- When and where: Noon to 4 p.m. March 8 and 9 at Hueston Woods State Park
- Cost: Free
- Info: Enjoy a hayride and learn all about making syrup. You'll also have the chance to buy syrup of your own
- When and where: 9:30 a.m. March 8 at Moe Harrigan’s Tavern, located at 4070 Marshall Road in Kettering
- Cost: $40 if registered early online or $45 for day of race
- Info: This run/walk also benefits various charities: The Alzheimer’s Association, United Rehabilitation Services, Breakthrough T1D, and South Community Behavioral Health
Toledo
- When and where: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 9 at The Premier Banquet Hall, located at 4480 Heatherdowns Blvd. in Toledo
- Cost: Free
- Info: Check out crafts ranging from jewelry to home decor to yard decorations and more at this event
- When and where: 11 a.m. March 8 until 5 p.m. March 9 at the Glass City Convention Center, located at 401 Jefferson Ave. in Toledo
- Cost: Ticket prices vary, see website for details
