OHIO — A storm system is predicted to develop across the Central Plains on Wednesday, moving into the Ohio Valley by Thanksgiving morning.

What You Need To Know

  • Thanksgiving travel may be impacted

  • Rain and snow likely to impact Ohio as early as Wednesday

  • Some snow accumulation is possible

The exact track the storm will take and the amount of cold air that will be in place is unclear. Confidence is growing (although still just moderate at best) that there will be some accumulating snow in some part of Ohio - mostly likely north of I-70 - on Thanksgiving morning.

A track just south of the Ohio River would bring the best chance for snow to Ohio. A track north of that would take the snow to northern Ohio or even hold it up in Michigan - bringing a cold rain to the rest of us.

Those that do get snow could see some light to moderate accumulations, with the majority of that falling Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The amount of snow is still uncertain.

A track too far south would keep most of the impacts south as well.

It is important to remember that winter storm forecasting is quite tricky as there are so many variables at play - any of which could dramatically swing the forecast if the models don't handle them correctly. But because of the possible impact on so many that could be traveling for the holiday, it is important to keep up-to-date on the latest forecasts.
