Much of Ohio can expect accumulating snow to ramp up beginning this evening.
What You Need To Know
- Light snow north today
- Accumulating snow of 1-3" with isolated totals of 4" possible
- Messy Tuesday morning commute
Snow chances will ramp up this evening, with snow already moving into western Ohio by late afternoon. Winter weather advisories have been issued for southwest and parts of central Ohio beginning at 4 p.m. and continuing into early Tuesday.
Light snow, mostly flurries, will be possible across northern Ohio early this afternoon, but it's late afternoon beginning in western sections of the state where widespread and potentially heavy snow moves in. This will spread east through the overnight hours, and will impact most of Ohio (with a few expections in southeast Ohio) through the early morning hours Tuesday. Much of the state can expect 1-3" of snow, but isolated totals of 4" cannot be ruled out.
There is also a window overnight we could see some freezing rain and sleet near the Ohio River.
After morning snow, skies will become mostly cloudy on Tuesday with highs mainly in the 20s.
Another storm system coming in on Wednesday afternoon will have significant impacts to Ohio, particularly for areas south of I-70. Snow chances will continue into early Thursday.
A few flurries still can't be ruled out Friday, with another quick shot of snow again Saturday from a system that will bring another round of Arctic air back into the mix.
Dangerous Cold Possible By Valentine's Weekend
Dangerously cold temperatures are forecast by Valentine's Day weekend. If some of our long-range models verify, this could be the coldest stretch in Ohio in at least two years.
Forecast morning wind chill readings by Valentine's Day morning could range from 0° to as cold as -20°. We will have to watch this arctic airmass closely to see just how far south it makes it.
Stay tuned!
