(UPDATE 5:45PM Thursday) The National Weather Service upgraded the tornado that hit the Dayton area to an EF4 rating. This is the strongest tornado to hit the state since June 5th, 2010 when an EF4 rated tornado tore through Wood County in northwest Ohio.
As of Thursday evening, storm survey teams working with the National Weather Service have confirmed at least 20 tornadoes touched down across Ohio late Memorial Day into early Tuesday morning. There were 13 tornadoes that hit Ohio during the Super Outbreak of April 3rd, 1974.
As of the posting of this story, there were a few surveys still ongoing. The state averages 19 in a year. We've had at least 39 tornadoes in Ohio since January 1st (some storm surveys are still pending). Here is a list of the tornado touch downs so far.
