Columbus, OH -- After some areas saw up to 2" of rain this weekend, skies will be drying today. There were some non-thunderstorm wind damage reports from Sunday afternoon mainly in central and southwestern Ohio. The reports involve downed wires and trees.  A few, scattered showers are still expected early today then look for gradual afternoon clearing with mostly cloudy skies. Afternoon highs are below average in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Tuesday will be the warmest day of the week with highs in the middle and upper 60s and plenty of sunshine. If you have trick or treat on Wednesday, prepare for heavy rain. We could pick up another 1" of rainfall Wednesday into Thursday as a slow-moving storm system moves in.

Here's a weather nugget: In Cincinnati, there are only four Halloweens on record when 1" of rain or more has fallen.

  • 1919 - 1.18"
  • 1932 - 1.19"
  • 1941 - 1.49"
  • 1972 - 1.14"

Even though you'll need rain gear to cover up the costumes, temperatures will remain fairly mild through Halloween evening. Colder air works it's way in for the end of the week and weekend.
