COLUMBUS, Ohio — The city’s only major women’s professional sports team, the Columbus Fury, has announced Nationwide as an official partner ahead of their first season.

The company will be featured on the volleyball team’s jerseys, and a release from the team on the announcement states the partnership “also encompasses support for the team’s community initiatives.”

“The introduction of the Columbus Fury is an exciting addition to Columbus’ sports scene, and Nationwide is happy to be part of this milestone moment for women’s professional volleyball,” said Ramon Jones, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Nationwide, in the release. “We’re proud to partner with another hometown team and showcase the talents of these world-class athletes during their inaugural year with the new Pro Volleyball Federation.”

The release calls the partnership an expansion of the company’s presence in women’s sports, highlighting its sponsorship of the Women’s Soccer League for the past three years.
