COLUMBUS, Ohio — Darlington Nagbe, the Crew’s leader, is staying with Columbus for the foreseeable future.

Amidst their playoff run, the Crew have announced a contract extension for their captain. Nagbe is a 13-year MLS veteran and three-time MLS Cup champion. This deal keeps the midfielder guaranteed through the 2025 season, with a club option for 2026.

Nagbe is in his fourth season with the Crew and one of the league’s most respected midfielders. He has played in 386 regular season matches and logged 38 goals. He has started in each oh his career 26 postseason games and has captured three MLS cups.

“Playing in my home state the past four years and winning an MLS Cup with the Crew has been really special, and it’s a blessing to continue my career in Columbus, both for me and my family,” said Nagbe. “We have more work to do, but I’m excited about what we’ve accomplished together this season and the future direction of our club. I’m proud to represent the Black & Gold, alongside my great teammates, and I’m thankful for the ongoing support from the Haslam, Johnson and Edwards families, Tim Bezbatchenko, Wilfried Nancy, the entire Crew staff and of course, our fans.”

Nagbe joined the Crew via trade with Atlanta United in 2019. In 2020. He was highly decorated securing MLS Goal of the Year and helping capture the MLS Cup for his squad. He started his career with the Portland Timbers in 2011 when he was the second overall selection in the MLS SuperDraft.
