COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State men's basketball coach Chris Holtmann and assistant coach Ryan Pedon will miss Sunday's game against Northwestern due to health and safety protocols, OSU officials announced in a press release.
The Buckeyes have tapped assistant coach Jake Diebler to serve as the acting head coach for the game, according to the press release.
Ohio State recently canceled multiple games due to continuing COVID-19 issues within the Buckeyes’ program, including games against New Orleans, Tennessee-Martin and Kentucky.
The No. 13 Buckeyes have a 9-3, 3-1 record after losing to the Indiana Hoosiers on Thursday.
Ohio State was held to 30.8% shooting and committed 15 turnovers in a 67-51 loss to Indiana.
The Buckeyes are looking to bounce back from the loss against Northwestern on Sunday.
The game tips off at 5:30 p.m. at Value City Arena.
The availability of both coaches for upcoming games this week will be determined later, officials said.
