ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Grant’s Farm opened for spring break Friday where some visitors rode the tram, fed animals and met a baby wallaby named Matilda.
This is the second year the historic farm opened for spring break, which brought in more than 30,000 visitors over a two-week period last March, according to general manager Steve Byrd.
“We definitely transform the property pretty quickly as soon as we get that winter thaw,” he said.
“Our animals love being around people, so when we open, you can see, they all start to flock.”
Grant’s Farm is expanding to an all-year model from March to December with events happening in January and February too, according to Byrd.
“We’re looking to open the gates of Grant’s Farm more often so the public can enjoy,” he said. “Grant’s Farm is at its best when we’re open to the public.”
In an effort to be open during all seasons, the farm is offering a variety of experiences this spring, such as Animal All-Stars, Easter Bunny Brunch and Egg Hunt, May Fest that celebrates German culture and more.
“To see families and friends here making memories, that’s really what we’re all about,” Byrd said.
For a VIP experience, guests can go behind the scenes to feed elk, deer, buffalo and cattle; or walk about the Busch family estate; as well as meet Clydesdales.
On select days, visitors can take a carriage ride around the Busch family estate, an area that is not usually open to the public.
Summer programming will begin mid-May with live music on weekend evenings, theme nights and drone light shows.
Grant’s Farm will stay open through March 23 and move to weekends only through mid-May.
