DAYTON, Ohio — The exposition building, known as the Roundhouse, is undergoing a stabilization and renovation project this week.

onMain Inc. announced that this is the begininng of visible work for the redevelopment of the 38-acre site.

"We are excited for our community to see work begin on this project," said Brian Heitkamp, CEO of onMain. "The Roundhouse holds a special place in the hearts of many, and we are committed to its preservation. This project is a significant step in onMain’s future and in revitalizing a beloved piece of our past."

The Roundhouse, which was once the centerpiece for the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, is receiving necessary exterior restorations. Funding for the project comes in part from $900,000 secured through Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, through a previous federal appropiations bill.

Ferguson Construction has been contracted to complete the work, including custom window, door and louver fabrication and installation and exterior facade repair and painting. The work for the custom builds will be done off-site to match the new installations to the original. The Roundhouse's exterior wood facade will be repaired and repainted.

Renovation is expected to be completed later this summer.

onMain is also preparing for infrastructure improvements, including utilities, roadways, sidewalks and parks to begin in late spring or early summer.
