Lakefront Lodge at Webster Park is set to be renamed for a local hero who died in the line of duty.
The Monroe County Legislature unanimously approved a measure this month to rename that site the "Jamieson Ritter Memorial Lodge."
Ritter, a Webster native and 2015 McQuaid High School graduate, was working as a police officer in Cleveland when he was shot and killed on July 4, 2024. He was 27.
County leaders say a ribbon-cutting to commemorate renaming the lodge is set to be held this May.
“Jamieson Ritter’s heroic actions and ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty will be remembered by the people he served and by the residents of Monroe County,” County Executive Adam Bello said in a statement. “Renaming this lodge in Jamieson’s honor is a tribute to the selflessness he exhibited when serving his community and our nation. I hope that people will take time to learn about Jamieson’s story and the sacrifice he made after visiting this newly renamed lodge in Webster Park.”
