TAMPA, Fla. — It won four Tony Awards after opening on Broadway in 2022 and has 25 of Michael Jackson’s hit songs.

We’re talking about "MJ the Musical," currently playing at the Straz Center.

What You Need To Know

  • "MJ The Musical" is currently playing at the Straz Center in Tampa through March 2

  • The play will head to Orlando afterwards from March 4 - 16

  • Jordan Markus portrays the King of Pop and says that getting to portray him in the musical is a "huge honor"

Jordan Markus portrays the King of Pop and he can flip a fedora on his head just like him.

“It’s the little things the details that make it really Michael, you know,” said Markus.

It's a part he unknowingly prepared for most of his life. He is a big fan of Michael Jackson.

Not only did he know all the musical’s songs by heart, he knew the outfits, too.

“Once we pull out this glove, the crowd goes insane,” said Markus.

And he knows the crowd.

“I’ve been on the road since 2023,” said Markus.

Markus began the tour as a standby and got the lead part this year.

“Being able to step into these shows — these loafers, figuratively and literally — is such a huge honor," said Markus. “Just carry this legacy and help people remember the time: no pun intended.”

Thanks to Jordan Markus, MJ lives on.

The show is booked indefinitely.
