DAYTON, Ohio — The Dayton Police Department announced a new online system for residents to share information with the department.
The Dayton Online Reporting System, or DORS, gives community members the option to report crimes and minor traffic incidents through a computer or mobile device.
Crimes with a known suspect will still need to be handled via phone call so an officer can report to the scene or so the crime can be handled by the Telephone Reporting Unit.
"Complaints that qualify for online reporting include: Animal Bites, Breaking and Entering (B&E), Criminal Damaging/Vandalism, Fraud, Identity Theft, Lost Property, Property Damage (Accidental), Telephone harassment, Theft, Theft (Vehicle Related), Theft-Gas Drive Offs and Traffic Accidents needing a report number only," the department said in a news release.
Police ask those filing to include as many details as possible in the online report and to note if there is photographic or video evidence as another link will be sent back to attach the files.
To file a complaint, visit www.daytonohio.gov/FilePoliceReport or the form can found on the Dayton Police Department's website.
