STOW, Ohio — The city of Stow is dealing with a road salt shortage and announced in a press release Thursday that State Route 8 and main roads received priority for salt application.
The city said they were plowing roads as usual but that certain roads would be given priority for salt application.
The roads given priority were:
- State Route 8
- Main roads (Darrow, Graham, Kent, Fishcreek, Stow)
- Secondary streets that have hills or hazardous spots
They said, at the time, residential roads would not be salted.
The city said salt orders typically show up within 48 hours of an order but that an order placed a week prior had still not arrived.
“We urge all residents and travelers to exercise caution on the roads during this time,” the release reads. “Your safety is our top priority, and we thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate this challenge together.”
