CINCINNATI — Transportation officials in Ohio and Kentucky are ensuring drivers are informed of detours as work on the I-471 "Big Mac" bridge continues following a fire in November.
The Department of Transportation and Engineering, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have made adjustments and modifications to intersections to get traffic flowling efficiently, but they said drivers still must plan ahead.
Depending on the destination, the following cooridors are alternative routes, utilizing exits along I-71, local streets and more:
- Go Across, Go Around – I-275, Ronald Reagan Highway and the Norwood Lateral
- Exit I-71 Earlier – Martin Luther King Dr., Taft Road, Reading Road, Gilbert Avenue/8th Street
- Local Streets – Madison Road, Columbia Parkway, Riverside Drive, Reading Road, Gilbert Avenue, Victory Parkway, Wooster Pike, Beechmont Avenue, River Road, Vine Street and others
- Downtown Insights – Eggleston Avenue, Broadway Street south of 5th Street, Central Avenue south of 7th Street, and 2nd Street & Johnny Bench Way
- Bridges – Purple People (pedestrian, bikes, scooters only), Taylor Southgate, Roebling and Clay Wade Bailey
The departments said these routes may also save time during rush hours.
ODOT said drivers can check OHGO for the latest updates, either on the website or mobile app. It shows delays, traffic conditions, closures and more.
