AKRON, Ohio — The city of Akron is extending hours and planning to provide warming centers for residents in need of an escape from the cold next week.
The Summit Lake Community Center, located at 380 W Crosier St., will have extended hours beginning Monday, Jan. 13 through Wednesday, Jan. 15. The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and all other City of Akron community centers will be open during normal business hours.
On Saturday, Jan. 11, the center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The center will be closed on Sunday.
Centers will return to normal business hours beginning thursday, Jan. 16 unless otherwise noted.
The Emergency Overnight Shelter, located at 111 East Voris St, has extended its current dates. The shelter will be open from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. each night through Jan. 17.
