It’s a game that always attracts many fans to make the trip from Columbus to Pasadena.

Attending the Rose Bowl is tradition for the Mines family.

But this trip is their first one together since Jerry Mines’ cancer diagnosis.

“He was recently diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer,” Kristian, Jerry’s daughter, said. “But the fact that he is still here with us makes it even more special. So, I just want it to be a good memory for this year.”

Jerry had to go through a week of radiation, and he’s currently on cancer medication pills, but that’s not stopping him from carrying on the family tradition.

“This will really be my first trip outside of the house," Jerry said. "I’m looking forward to it."

The Mines family is banking on another big victory for the Buckeyes.

“Listen, my father. He’s going to be that good luck charm,” Kristian said.
