MAYFIELD, Ohio — The celebration of Hanukkah continued Thursday evening with a menorah lighting in Mayfield Village.

The event's organizer said it started with a letter he wrote 35 years ago to the mayor asking for a menorah along with a Christmas tree.

He said he enjoys seeing community members from all backgrounds at the menorah lighting.

The first night of Hanukkah happened to be on Christmas day this year.

The eight day celebration runs through New Year's Day.

Here are some pictures from the lighting Thursday.
