AKRON, Ohio — Hundreds of people braved the cold and snowy weather in Akron Saturday morning to support a good cause.

The Akron Canton Regional Food Bank held its 12th annual Selfless Elf 5K.

Many participants dressed out for the 1980s themed holiday run. 

The race raises funds and awareness for people struggling with hunger in the community. 

One participant said she's inspired every year to get out and support those in need, even if the weather is less than ideal.

"I try to do this as many years as I can," Donna Powell said. "It's a good cause, so, even if it's freezing cold, I'm still out here to support it."

As for the race results, Josh Metzung had the fastest time. 

He completed the 5K in just 16 minutes and 49 seconds.

Macy mcrowe was the fastest female participant, finishing with a time of 18 minutes and 27 seconds.
