SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — An anti-drunk driving campaign is returning for the holidays in Summit County, launched by Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich and Summit County Sheriff Kandy Fatheree.
The program offers free or reduced fare rides through the ride-share service LYFT for Christmas and New Year's.
“The holiday season is one of joy and cheer, and for many, an alcoholic beverage or two. We want everyone to enjoy their season safely and to remember that drinking and driving don’t mix,” said Kolkovich in a news release. “My hope is that Summit County residents use Arrive Alive this holiday season to ensure that everyone stays safe.”
There are 600 one-time-use LYFT codes for certain times and dates in the county for the rides, up to $20 off.
Christmas rides are available from 6 p.m. on Dec. 22 through noon on Dec. 26. Riders can use the code SUMMITXMAS24 to receive the discounted or free fares.
Riders looking to stay safe on New Year's Eve can use the code SUMMITNYE25 between 6 p.m. Dec. 31 and noon on Jan. 2 for the fares.
“We want everyone to have a fun holiday season, but please be responsible in your celebrations,” said Fatheree in a news release. “My deputies and other law enforcement will be out in full force next week. You can avoid meeting them by utilizing the Arrive Alive program for a free or reduced-fare ride home during Christmas or New Year’s.”
The pick up and drop off for rides must be within Summit County.
Since its inception in 2018, Arrive Alive has served more than 5,000 riders. The Summit County Prosecutor's Office runs the program throughout holidays around St. Patrick's Day, July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve.
