When you first arrive at the family Thanksgiving, you hug, say hello, do a little catching up.
But it's not long before more and more heads turn toward the television to catch the game. This holiday weekend, there's plenty of Ohio-based sporting entertainment to keep you occupied as you gobble up the turkey, mashed potatoes and green beans.
Here's what to watch and when:
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals play against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 in Paycor Stadium. Joe Burrow is having a great season for the Bengals, who are struggling in other areas. They need a win to stay in the playoff race, hosting a Steelers team that's 8-3 and won five of their past six.
Cleveland Cavaliers
If you’re taking advantage of the long weekend, you’ll have two chances to see the Cavs play. They play an away game against the Atlanta Hawks at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 29. Then, at 6 p.m. on Dec. 1, they play a home game against the Boston Celtics.
Ohio State
Ohio State is set to take on rival Michigan in The Game at 12 p.m. Nov. 30 at Ohio Stadium. A win will send the Buckeyes to the Big Ten championship for the first time since 2020 and a rematch with No. 1 Oregon, which last month dealt them their only loss in a 32-31 thriller.
Columbus Blue Jackets
If hockey is more your thing, you'll have two chances to see the Blue Jackets play this holiday weekend. They'll be facing off against the Calgary Flames at 3 p.m. on Nov. 29 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus. They'll be taking on the Chicago Blackhawks at 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the United Center in Chicago.
High School Football
Be sure to tune in at 7 p.m. Friday for the OHSAA state semifinals, streamed live on Spectrum News 1. Olentangy Liberty faces off against St. Edward, and Centerville takes on Moeller this Friday night.
