CLEVELAND โ Myles Garrett has received more recognition for his defensive skills and is the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 12.
The National Football League announced his accolade on Wednesday.
"Individual accolades are tremendous, we want our guys to be recognized," said Cleveland Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski. "The nice part is, is it also reflects well on your teammates. Happy for Myles and also recognize that it takes everybody to achieve those."
Garrett recorded five tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble when the Browns defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-19 on Thursday. Each sack played a crucial role, the first was on a third down, forcing a longer field goal attempt which was missed. The second forced a fumble, resulting in a takeaway and leading to a Browns field goal. Garrett's third sack was on a third-down play to end the first half.
"What Myles is doing, play-in and play-out, game-in and game-out with the amount of attention that he gets play-in and play-out is pretty impressive," Stefanksi said.
Garrett is the only player to record multiple games with at least three sacks this season and has increased his season total to 10 sacks. He's currently tied for third in the NFL and he's the only player to record at least 10 sacks in the past seven seasons.
