AKRON, Ohio — The 2024 Kaulig Companies Championship and the Ambassador of Golf Event presented by FirstEnergy Foundation announced Friday they have raised more than 1.3 million for northeast Ohio charities — the largest annual charitable total ever from professional golf events at Firestone Country Club. 

Since 1984, events at the Firestone Country Club have generated more than $33 million in charitable donations through professional golf tournaments, according to a release from PGA Tour Championship Communications.

“We are excited to continue a record setting pace with this year featuring the largest charitable donation by a tournament held at Firestone,” said Kaulig Companies Championship Executive Director Don Padgett III in a release.

“For over 70 years, Firestone Country Club has been a stage for some of the greatest golfers in history and a staple in professional golf," “At Kaulig Companies, we’re making a difference in the lives of children and families in our community,” said Executive Chairman Kaulig Companies Matt Kaulig in a release. "But it's more than a tournament, it’s an opportunity to celebrate and give back to Northeast Ohio, which is a part of this event’s legacy."

The organizations also announced that next year's tournament will take place from June 18 to June 22, instead of July like usual.

The Kaulig Companies Championship is one of five major championships held each year for professionals 50 and older, according to its website. It has taken place at the Firestone Country Club for 70 years.
