AKRON, Ohio — More than one million lights will soon take over the Akron Zoo as its Wild Lights holiday lighting event takes off at the end of the month.

Tickets are now on sale for the event running Nov. 29-30, Dec. 1, 6-8, 13-23, 26-27 and 29-30 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is sponsored by Akron Children's.

Guests can visit with Santa through Dec. 23, and the Grinch will be onsite each evening.

On Dec. 12, Zoothing Wild Lights will take place for guests looking to take part without crowds, loud music or flashing lights. These tickets are separate from general admission Wild Lights tickets and a limited amount will be available.

The zoo will also offer Wild Lights Safari Tours on all dates of the event for exclusive golf cart tours. The tours are at 5 p.m., 5:15 p.m., 6 p.m. or 6:15 p.m. including a 45-minute staff-led tour, admission to the event, a light-up necklace and a s'more kit. Prices include up to five people at $250 for Akron Zoo members and $275 for non-members.

A Santa Express tour is also available for visitors at 4 p.m. or 4:15 p.m. which includes the Safari Tour benefits and private time with Santa Claus. Members tickets cost $300 and non-members cost $325.

General admission tickets to Wild Lights for zoo members are $12 to $20 for adults and $8 to $16 for children, while non-members cost $16 to $24 for adults and $12 to $20 for children. Infants under 2-years-old have free admission, and the zoo offers free parking.
