DAYTON, Ohio — For a few weeks, Clark County's town of Springfield gained national attention after false comments were made about its Haitian community members. 

Leading up to the election, Vice President-Elect JD Vance and President-Elect Donald Trump made remarks about how Haitian immigrants are eating the town's pets. Officials in the city said repeatedly that the claims were false and that there were no reports made about it. 

While frustration with residents and the Haitian community built for some time, the tension started to cool off as the election got closer, and therefore less attention being brought to the town.
